During an interview withCBS, he talked about how he ended up guest starring in the project, as well as the thought that went into this fight sequence. He started by confessing that he was approached by Sandler’s team to do the scene since the actor had specifically written it for Barker.
Fully on board, he decided to join the film. However, there was one point where he was at odds with the director for the most hilarious reason.

The director talked with me about what we were going to do … He said, ‘Don’t worry about these fight scenes; we have a double. He’ll do that.’

This is not surprising considering the fact that he was 71 years old at the time, and the production must not have wanted to put him in any harm’s way. However, Barker took great offense to this when it was offered, having been a part of the United States Navy Reserve during the Second World War.

He outright stated that he would be the one who would be doing all of the beating. He stated that he had no intention of using a stunt double and was more than capable of beating up Adam Sandler on his own. It is safe to say that fans are grateful for this decision, as the scene has gone on to be one of the most iconic fight sequences of all time.
