When it was announced that HBO was about to release a prequel ofGame of Thrones, not many would have imagined that they were about to drop a banger thatHouse of the Dragonturned out to be. The HBO series has went on become a rage, managing to enthrall fans around the world. But whatHouse of the Dragonwill be really remembered for is how it has split the internet into two halves – Team Green and Team Black. No one can resist choosing a side. But when star Rhys Ifans was asked whom he supported, he might have given an awfully true answer.

House of the Dragonshas no real victors
The finale ofHouse of the DragonSeason 1 marked the start of the bloodbath that would be characteristic of the Targaryen civil war, popularly known as the ‘Dance of the Dragons’. The dance, which began almost 130 years after Aegon the Conqueror conquered Westeros, riding on Balerion, the Black Dread, and with his sisters, would mark a downfall in the might of the Targaryens.
House of the Dragon Season 2 Has Conveniently Forgotten its Worst Crime That Wasn’t Even Forgiven in Much Maligned Game of Thrones
The civil war, which involved Queen Rhaenyra’s Blacks and King Aegon ll’s Greens, will rob the Targaryen dynasty of its sheen. (Major Spoilers ahead!!!).
For starters, the dance would come at a heavy cost. Of the 17 dragons alive at the time of the Dance, only 4 will survive it. But what will be more difficult to shake off was the loss of human blood.

The Dance of the Dragons would come at a big cost to the Targaryen dynasty
Many characters would lose their lives in the Dance of the Dragons, with numerous people from both the factions having to pay the iron price. And that is why Rhys Ifans is not a fan of either. When he was asked the infamous question, which faction would he side with, he had the most apt answer.

“Both sides are genocidal crazy war criminals… I think we should all enjoy seeing how they die.”

And he couldn’t be more right. Based on George RR Martin’sFire & Blood, the show will leave all major characters on both sides dead.

Did anyone really win the Dance of the Dragons
After the two year long Civil War concluded, every major participant on either side was left dead. While it was Queen Rhaenyra’s son with Prince Daemon Targaryen, Aegon lll, who was crowned the King of Westeros, she would not be alive to see it. His father would share the same fate. And so would every major belligerent on either side. And the road was full of innumerable inhuman acts.
“So Balerion is clearly Michael Jordan”: House of the Dragon Showrunner Calls Vhagar the LeBron James of Dragons and NBA Fans Have the Wittiest Response
The show might have been kind to Queen Rhaenyra’s Blacks (and so are many fans). But they would be wise to remember that they have done many things beyond retribution. The fans of the Blacks shouldn’t forget that they killed a child in his cradle. On the other side, Aemond Targaryen, riding on Vhagar, laid waste to a large part of Westeros, maiming many a Westerosi. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that the scars of the Dance could never be truly removed. That is why Ifans might truly be in the right.
A completely fair answer.

And that is why we can’t help but think about Rhys Ifans’ words – the only thing we can do is enjoy seeing all of them die.
