Kevin Feige’s Marvel Cinematic Universe seems to be an unlucky place for WWE stars. Damian Priest joined Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins on the list of pro-wrestlers who were cut out from a Marvel role. Priest revealed that he almost landed a role inBlack Panther: Wakanda Foreverbut was eventually not allowed to play the character.

WWE stars have previously made appearances in the MCU and other Marvel films. Dave Bautista successfully played Drax in six Marvel movies and a Disney+ special. Tyler Mane recently played the role of Sabretooth inDeadpool & Wolverine, while Triple-H and Randy Savage have appeared inBlade: TrinityandSpider-Manrespectively.

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet on his podcast, Priest revealed that he was almost cast in a role inBlack Panther: Wakanda Forever. He mentioned that there was a long story behind it and that the part was“taken away from him”. However, he clarified that it was not Marvel’s fault. Priest shared onInsight with Chris Van Vliet:
It’s a long story, but basically…it got taken away from me. Not by Marvel.

Priest hinted that WWE might be the reason behind his lost role. When Van Vliet shared that WWE“was a little bit different at the time,”Priest responded,“Exactly.”While it was not revealed what role he had in the movie, some speculations went as far as to say that it could’ve been the role of Namor.
Brandon Davis of ComicBook.com shared on X that Priest was tapped in for the role of Attuma, a role that later went to Alex Livinalli. Davis further added that he was the third WWE star to be cut out from the MCU during the Multiverse Saga.

Earlier, a report fromFightful Selectreported that a post-credit scene inEternals, featuring former RAW and SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch, was removed from the final cut. Seth Rollins was supposed to be a Serpent’s Society henchman in Captain America: Brave New World buthis role too was reportedly cut outfrom the film.
Fans Are Not Happy With This WWE-MCU Situation
Fans responded to Damian Priest missing the role inBlack Panther 2, sharing that it was a shame that Priest was not allowed to do it. Fans also went on to guess the roles that he could’ve played in the film, with the popular guesses being Namor and Attuma. Some of the fan reactions read:
