If there is one thing anime does best, it’s friendship. The theme offriendship is as essential to animeas water is to humanity. You think this is a joke? Try finding an anime without friendship…okay you may find a few, but the majority still outweighs the minority!

10 Best 90s Anime That Deserve A Reboot

The 90s was an era of several legendary anime shows, but it’s about time that some of the best shows of that time get a Reboot.

Anime takes friendship so far that sometimes these friend groups start to form into a familial unit, and let’s be honest — us anime fans love that. So much so that it’s a very common trope that can make fans feel a part of the family for years to come.

10Café LycoReco (Lycoris Recoil)

Lycoris Recoil may be a more recent anime, but fans have not forgotten the main cast and are eagerly awaiting Café LycoReco’s return. You have the contrasting yet fitting duo that is Chisato and Takina, along with the mentor Mika, the constant drunk Mizuki, and of course the baby Kurumi.

Not a family by choice, but going on constant life-threatening missions while trying to keep the peace of an entire country will bring any team closer.

9Lagoon Company (Black Lagoon)

You don’t need to save an entire country to be a family; in fact, you don’t even need to be the hero of the story. The Lagoon Company is a delivery group made of a rather odd bunch of people. You have Dutch, the boss willing to accept any job for the right price; Benny, the tech support who just wants to make a quick buck without all the trouble; Rock, the newest member who wants to live by his own rules and tries to keep the team as morally correct as possible; and of course Revy, the bombastic “shoot first, ask questions later” type of girl.

At first glance, this team just doesn’t fit, but the more you watch Black Lagoon, the closer these guys get.

8Chise & Elias (The Ancient Magus' Bride)

“Found Family” may be too literal in this case, as Chise and Elias met when Chise sold herself into slavery. Yikes! Lucky for Chise, Elias is a very kind mage looking for an apprentice and…a bride, but we’ll get to that. Through their unorthodox relationship, Chise slowly learns to value herself more while Elias learns what it means to have some form of humanity.

By the synopsis of the show alone, you may think The Ancient Magus' Bride is a lot grittier than it is. However, once you view the main relationship for yourself, you’ll find that these two were each other’s missing pieces all along.

7Kazuma’s Party (Konosuba)

We’ve all dreamed of being transferred to another world and saving the day; that’s why theisekai genre has become so popular. But for Kazuma, his plans didn’t quite go so well, as he and his teammates aren’t really equipped to save anyone, much less themselves.

You have Kazuma, whose only ability is to steal objects; Darkness, a knight with a fetish for being humiliated; Megumin, a wizard with one spell; and Aqua, a goddess who is partially useless. This adventuring party may not be defeating the demon lord, but through sticking together by fate or necessity, they have formed an unbreakable bond. Konosuba is hilarious to watch!

Kazuma, Aqua, Megumin, Darkness all giving a thumbs up

6Team Dai Gurren (Gurren Lagann)

When your goal is to liberate all humanity, how can you, not bond? Team Dai Gurren may have started out as a bunch of rebellious humans with giant robots, but under the leadership of Kamina and Simon, they became a whole functioning government.

The quality of animation across the anime genre can vary greatly, so don’t miss these anime shows if you want to experience the best animation.

Bombastic doesn’t even begin to describe Gurren Lagann, as they drill through all their enemies with sheer willpower alone. Team Dai Gurren is definitely a little bit “extra,” but it’s their stand-out personalities that bring them together as one of the best found families in anime.

5Samurai Champloo Trio (Samurai Champloo)

One of the best ways to bond is going on a road trip. Now, imagine that road trip is through the Edo period of Japan withtwo rouge samurai. Now that’s a story to tell the grandkids!

You have Fuu, our headstrong protagonist who has a talent for getting into trouble; Mugen, our hot head who goes out of his way to find trouble; and Jin, our seemingly cool-headed character whose mouth starts trouble. The trio in Samurai Champloo may start out as three people with similar interests, but the more you watch and the longer these three travel together, it becomes clear that this is about more than just the money.

4Class 3-E (Assassination Classroom)

School becomes fun when your teacher is an alien promising to destroy the world if you don’t kill him by the end of the school year. You thought finals were your biggest problem? Class 3-E becomes a family as they are forced to learn new techniques, teamwork exercises, and improve their failing grades.

Class is in session, and the target is the teacher. The beauty of Class 3-E and Assassination Classroom, in general, is that each student gets their time to shine. By the end of the series, you feel a part of the family as well.

3Michiko & Hatchin (Michiko To Hatchin)

Michiko is a criminal with a bad attitude, and Hatchin is a little girl trying to find her place in the world. Both are looking for Hiroshi, Hatchin’s father as he has been missing for quite some time now.

At first, their relationship resembles a dysfunctional sibling relationship, but the more miles they put on the bike, the more these two become like mother and daughter. Good luck figuring out which one is the mom and which one is the daughter, though. Michiko to Hatchin is one fun ride!

2The Straw Hat Pirates (One Piece)

You try spending over 1,000 episodes with the same group without calling them family. The straw hat pirates all have their different backgrounds and struggles, and yet they always seem to come through for one another. Cruising with this group of pirates will always be an adventure as they just can’t seem to stay out of trouble.

Best Anime With The Most Episodes

The straw hat crew and their crazy antics are the main appeals ofOne Pieceas you get to explore their different background and their careless attitudes as they change the world with every island they land on.

1Odd Jobs Crew (Gintama)

When you’re broke, you’ll do anything for the right price. Too bad the workers at Odd Jobs are terrible at most things. There are three members to this whacky trio: Gintoki, a samurai who lost the war and just wants to laze around all day; Kagura, an alien who wants to get away from home; and Shinpachi, a pair of glasses.

These three get into all sorts of crazy adventures as they fill in the holes that their damaged past has left them with. Gintama is special because the Odd Jobs team never trains, they never develop new abilities, and they hardly ever progress as people — because they don’t need to. All three of them love each other for who they are. Character growth is great for bonding characters, but there is something sweet about unconditionally loving someone from the beginning.
